Story and Setting

The game takes place in Rome during the fourth century AD. The Senate has become corrupt and has lost much of its authority, while Emperor Diocletian and his army maintain control outside the city.

In an attempt to reclaim power, the Senate turns to necromancy and creates an army of undead and demons. The conflict plunges Rome into fear as the summoned forces grow stronger, enslave the population, and gradually dominate the city.

An ancient gladiatorial school continues training fighters—but its purpose has changed. Instead of preparing warriors for entertainment, the school now produces gladiators capable of driving out the undead and restoring Rome’s former glory.

Key Features

Grid-Based First-Person Exploration

Explore catacombs, ruins, and dungeons from a first-person perspective while moving across a grid-based environment inspired by classic computer RPGs from the 1980s and 1990s.

Party-Based RPG

Create and manage a group of gladiators, or “blobber”-style party members, each with different roles, abilities, equipment, and combat potential.

Fourteen Character Classes

Create characters by choosing from 14 classes. Build a balanced team or specialize your party around particular combat strategies.

Turn-Based Combat

Battle undead creatures, demons, and other enemies through tactical turn-based encounters. Action Points must be managed carefully, as every attack, movement, ability, and defensive action can affect the outcome.

Gladiator School Management

Develop your Ludus, or gladiator school, by:

  • Improving facilities
  • Recruiting gladiators
  • Training your party
  • Crafting equipment
  • Managing available resources
  • Preparing for upcoming expeditions

Party Formation and Equipment

Adjust your party’s:

  • Formation
  • Skills
  • Weapons
  • Armor
  • Tactical roles
  • Character combinations

Different dungeons may require different setups, so experimenting with party composition is essential.

Explore dangerous catacombs and dungeons filled with enemies, secrets, hazards, and treasure.
